Meet The Team:
Luke Smith – Technical Director
I’m the Technical Director and Co‑Founder, which basically means almost every technical solution we build Cloud, Data, AI, Apps, Networking, Security (you name it) eventually lands on my desk. I set the direction, solve the hard problems, and keep us delivering genuinely brilliant work.
What do you enjoy most about working at ElysianIT?
The variety of challenges, the freedom to innovate, and the fact that we genuinely act as trusted partners to our clients. Also everyone pulls their weight, everyone cares, and everyone’s here to do great work.
Tell us about a recent piece of work you were involved in that made a difference?
Recently, I led the architectural direction and requirements for a large Azure landing zone and governance programme, helping the customer strengthen security, resilience and operational clarity across their global cloud environment. It created the foundation for future innovation with Data, AI and Application innovation while unblocking longstanding challenges.
How does your role help the business succeed?
I steer the technical ship making sure everything we design is secure, scalable, practical and futureproof. I help clients understand why a solution matters, not just what it does. And if I’m doing my job right, the team get the space to do their best work, and customers walk away thinking “these folks really know their stuff.”
Outside of work, what do you like to do to switch off?
Three kids keep me grounded, entertained, and occasionally exhausted – but in the best way. When I do get time to myself, you’ll find me mountain biking, cycling, snowboarding, doing DIY or gardening, or just getting out in the fresh air. And I’m an F1 fan.
One tip or simple piece of advice you would give to a client or a new starter?
Keep things simple. Start with the outcome, understand the why, and don’t be afraid to strip a solution back to its essentials. Clear thinking leads to clean architecture and better results every time.
