Meet our expert team of cloud architects, consultants and support superstars! Discover the people behind our Microsoft solutions, dedicated to your digital transformation
From time to time, we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of our fabulous team, giving you the chance to get to know a little more about the person behind the keyboard.
From what they do at work to their interests outside of it, it’s a chance to meet the people who make ElysianIT what it is.
In one or two sentences, what do you do at ElysianIT?
My official title is Operations Director which involves the wearing of multiple hats – from customer account management, Project Management of customer delivery projects, helping to scope pre-sales engagement, looking after the company finances & HR functions and generally ensuring that the different parts and activities of business are working together as seamlessly as possible.
Tell us about a recent piece of work you were involved in that made a difference?
Leading the project to set up the new End User Compute environment and associated Managed Service and SOC for the Independent Football Regulator has been fun. From notification of the tender award, we created their M365 and Azure environments and onboarded the users within a month, alongside establishing a Managed Service. New devices were then rolled out to 80+ users across the country in month two, further refinements conducted and planning of their new office fit outs. A challenging project to establish a brand new organisations IT in tight timescales, ensuring the IFR can start delivering on their remit.
What do you enjoy most about working at ElysianIT?
The diversity of the role – it’s a bit of a cliché but no day (or hour) is like the next and I’m constantly dealing with new challenges and opportunities and enjoy guiding the wider team in ensuring we deliver high quality outcomes for our customers and evolve our processes and service offerings as we and the IT market place grow and evolve.
How does your role help the business succeed?
I’d like to think in a number of ways but most importantly around communications – ensuring that all of the services that we provide to customers, from Account Management, Consultancy and Support are aware of one another’s activities and communicating to customers in a unified fashion.
Outside of work, what do you like to do to switch off?
I have a teenager and a toddler (who are surprisingly similar) and a small business so I’m normally looking after one or the other. In the fractional time left over, I have a love of all things automotive and enjoy watching Formula 1 or attempting to fix one of my own elderly vehicles (fun fact, the combined age of all of my cars is 134 years)!
One tip or simple piece of advice you would give to a client or a new starter?
Speak up – there is a risk we can all be too “British” in our attitudes and either accept things as being the way they are or be reticent about asking for what we want or need to be successful. For new and existing people, that’s identifying opportunities for internal improvements, bringing the wealth of experience and bright ideas from prior roles to improve the way we operate. For customers, it’s highlighting where we could have done things better or where we can further assist them – speaking up and providing feedback is key to continuous improvement.
